Jim Morrison was 22 when he wrote 'Light My Fire,' broke and sleeping on rooftops in Venice Beach. If you were tuning a transistor radio in the summer of 1967, you couldn't escape it. The song spent three weeks at number one and changed FM rock forever. The band took their name from Aldous Huxley's book 'The Doors of Perception,' and Morrison swore on day one they'd never sell a song to a commercial. Years after he was gone, the surviving members broke that promise. Ray Manzarek said it haunted him for the rest of his life.
